Okay, so just when you've mastered knowing which make-up brush is for contouring and which one creates the perfect smokey eye - you find out you gotta keep them clean!?
Okay, this shouldn't really come as a big shock, but yes - your brushes should be kept clean, and giving them a good wash every 2 weeks (at least) or anytime you switch a product will keep them in best possible condition and make them last twice as long!
The reason for washing them so often is pretty obvious, there will be a continuous build up of product on your brush whenever you use it - so say if you didn't wash your brushes for 3 months, every time you use it to apply your new foundation, your also putting 3 months of old make-up on your face too - lovely.
So it's good practice to keep your brushes clean, it'll keep your face looking fresh and will prevent any spread of germs and bacteria onto your face and make-up, which is just bonuses all round right?
So, what's the best way to do it?
Luckily, it's super simple and quick to do - just make sure you do it at a time where you can give your brushes plenty of time to dry!
You will need:
Your brushes
A towel
Baby shampoo
A bowl of warm water
Method:
This is honestly the simplest process ever, so maybe do it when you're watching "New Girl" or your current box set fave to keep you entertained.
You're gonna get a bowl of warm water and put about an average squeeze of baby shampoo into the center and swish it around.
Then you're gonna take each brush and give them a good ol' scrub, you don't have to submerge them, just wash the actual brush, then run them under a tap until the water runs clear.
And that't about it! Once they're all done you're gonna lay them down (never stand them up - this causes water to get in the glue and your brushes to fall apart!) On a towel, and just let those guys dry out.
Next time you use your brushes, you should find they're much softer and your make-up will glide on a lot more flawlessly, not a bad trade off huh?
Like I said, do this process about once every 2 weeks if you don't wanna commit to anything more often, and give your brushes a new lease of life!
Toodles! x
