Do you ever have those days (weeks/months/lives) where you feel like no matter how many exfoliating treatments you try, how many nourishing masques you invest in, how many brightening primers you use - you're still battling with a dull complexion?
Well, lemme tell you
- this has been my angst the past week and boy what a week it's been! It might
not seem like a big deal to some, but those that suffer with dark circles, an
uneven skin tone, or a complexion that's just going through a lacklustre stage;
can find their moods beginning to match their slightly dull outer casings,
which just ain't fun for anyone!
This is why, after a
week of attempts and trials - I have put together a selection of foundations
which have the ability to pull you from your dreary wake and back into a
complexion which'll brighten any dull mood or skin worry!
#1 Rimmel Wake Me Up
Foundation
I rediscovered this
gem in my week of UDS (un-desirable skin) and honestly felt like punching the
air when I no longer had a colour-match with Gollum.
It's a blogger fave,
and for good reason too! When applied with a buffing brush, this foundation
creates skin that looks super soft, energised and glowing, who doesn’t want
that??
I’ve found myself reaching for this over my more
high-end foundations, which is just great, because at a glorious £8.99 I can
afford to repurchase without sacrificing my petrol for the week!
#2 Nars
Sheer Glow
This is a
base that requires no introduction; it’s every gals best friend – the Nars
Sheer Glow!
Now, this
product certainly isn’t kidding with the name and definitely delivers on the “Glow”
portion of things; you could feel like death warmed up yet still look like you’d
just hopped off the plane from Barcelona. It applies super softly on the skin,
and when buffed in liberally creates a warm, flawless complexion.
Now this is
definitely a “treat” foundation, for me anyway as I find that it works
perfectly on an evening out on the town, keeping my make up in place whilst
still giving me a healthy, glowing complexion – the only downfall is that it
just feels a tad heavy for everyday use. But with quite a high price point of
£31.00, I’m totally fine with saving it for best! A girls gotta eat you know.
#3 Bare Minerals
Mineral Foundation
Now I know
what you’re thinking – surely a mineral foundation can’t offer much in terms of
bringing your skin back to life; but when it comes to bare minerals, you couldn’t
be more wrong! Especially when paired with the Prime Time Brightening
Foundation Primer, this stuff can honestly take a “flu-face” (when you can
visually see the flu taking effects on your face) and turn it Oscar-ready.
When you
purchase the Bare Minerals starter kit, you receive the foundation along with
the mineral veil, bronzer AND two of their brushes to help you apply the
product straight onto the skin. Now, when you apply it properly (I would maybe
get an in-store artist to show you how it’s done for first timers, it’s worth
it to make the most of your product!) It gives you the most airbrushed, soft
and naturally-flawless looking skin – need I say more?
#4 Chanel
Vitalumier Aqua
Despite not
offering as much coverage as the previous three; the Vitalumier Aqua is the
perfect option for days where you want that sun kissed; “I’m totally not
wearing make-up” make-up days.
Its super
liquid-y in consistency allows it to buff super easily into the skin, leaving a
natural and dewy finish that lasts. It has buildable coverage if you want to
take it from your perfect daytime foundation to a face fit for an evening out,
in short – the perfect all rounder for the days your skin needs a little
pick-me-up!
I hope these suggestions
have given you some inspiration for when you’re having a week your skin would
rather forget. Each one has the ability to bring you out of your skin slump, so
that no matter how much of a bad day you’re having, you can say; “Well hey, at
least my face looks fantastic.”
Ciao! xx
I definitely feel inspired as my skin is feeling tired and feel like I need a change. Will take you up on the cheaper make tip and give it a try. Love this blog, extremely informative as usual, thank you xxxxx
