Okay, so maybe I’m jumping the gun a little and getting a bit too excited by blogging about something even related to “Summer” but hey! It’s April, the weather is increasingly getting warmer, mornings are brighter – and you can never be too prepared for the glorious Summer days we can only hope to welcome in a few months time.
One of my favourite things about the warmer months is
experimenting and changing up my make-up routine or looks. As soon as there’s
any sign of heat, I’m switching up to a higher SPF moisturiser and waving
goodbye to matte, perfecting foundations and say a warm Hello to my tinted
moisturisers I neglected slightly in the colder months.
A fun and easy way to switch up your make-up in favour of a
more “sunny, beach and bright” –esque look is simply changing up your lips, and
I ain’t talking collagen. Ombre lips began creeping onto the radar last year
and I think it’s high time to give it a bit of a makeover – it’s a fun way to
add a pop of colour to your otherwise simple make up look, or can be a bold
statement for a sunny evening spent out on the town.
So this is a really simple “How to”, alls you’re going to
need is your favourite summer lipstick (I'm using Sartorial from Topshop) and a lip
liner around 2 shades darker than your lipstick in a similar shade (I chose Trust in Red from MAC).
So first up what you’re going to do is make sure your lips are nice and moisturiser, this will keep your lipstick in place for longer and also stop those gross flakes developing you get after your lipstick dries out (just looking out for your guys). Okay, so now you're going to outline your lips
using the lipliner. To get the best shape, start with the “V” of your cupids
bow and the curve of the centre of your bottom lip, and then just connect the
rest! One side of your lip is usually slightly higher than your other, which is why it may look slightly uneven like mine!
So right now your lips should be looking like this – scary right?
Let’s fix that! Using the same lip liner, fill in your lips a little more
starting from the outside and working your way in, making the line a little
less harsh the closer you get to the middle.
Okay, so now take your lipstick, and using a lip brush (this will help you get the best
precision) apply the colour on the centre of your lips and slowly blend it into the lipliner. Continue this until you feel comfortable with the amount of transition in colour and voila! Perfect Summer Lips!
This is a great way to bring a pop of colour to your make-up look, and an easy way to update your Winter routine to something a little bit more summery!
I hope you’ve enjoyed this tutorial, and I’ll see you next
time!
Ciao!
