If you know me in real-life, you probably know about my life-addiction of milkshakes.
Why do I like them so much? I hear you ask, well where do I possibly begin? The sweet-taste, a thick, ice-creamy consistency packed full of flavour, what’s not to love?It all began when I was only 6 years old and my mum would make me a Nesquik milkshake every day after school, rocket forward 17 years later and I’m still drinking milkshakes on any occasion and with any excuse possible.
As a full-time milkshake lover, it's
very rare I can even step into a restaurant without checking out what sweet,
frothy goodness they have available on the menu, and whilst I am rather proud
to be somewhat of a milkshake connoisseur, the outings to the likes
of T.G.I's and Gourmet Burger Kitchen just for a fix can get quite costly,
despite just how delightfully delicious their shakes are.
So, to save my debit card and my dignity (but only slightly), I’ve concocted the perfect Oreo milkshake recipe you can enjoy every night if you want to, and for a fraction of the price!
So, the things you need are:
*A blender -mine is a Gourmet smoothie maker from
John Lewis, really powerful yet compact! You can find a similar on here.
*Soft scoop vanilla ice cream
*Oreos (the Pièce de résistance)
*Milk
*Milk
*An
appetite for some heaven in a glass
So, this is super quick and super simple – exactly what you want a recipe to be when you’re hankering for a tasty shake.
First thing you’re going to do is take 2 big scoops of your vanilla ice cream and put them straight into the blender.
First thing you’re going to do is take 2 big scoops of your vanilla ice cream and put them straight into the blender.
Then add in 4 Oreos (after some extensive work, I’ve found that 4 works the best, not too overpowering but just the right amount of flavour – but feel free to add more, I salute you.) And crush them up a little as you put them in (nothing major, just snap them in half and then some).
Final touch is just a splash of milk, a little less than tumbler full
and voila! You’re ready to blend!
Get it on a high blend for about 20 seconds and would you believe it? That's all! Delicious Oreo goodness right there in your possession! Dig in!
If you’re feeling really
crazy, I occasionally like to top it all off with some whipped cream and an
Oreo just to pull the whole thing together. Enjoy with absolutely anything you
want to, because after all, your main entertainment is in that glass.
I really
hope you enjoy this recipe and try it out for yourself. If Oreos aren't your
bag (you crazy ol' thing you) get creative and sub your Oreos for Nutella, or
Maryland cookies - measurements will stay the same but get creative and find a
flavour you LOVE.
Enjoy! x
Yet again another brilliant blog. I don't even like milkshakes but you've described it so well I actually feel like making one. Although I know I wont, but I think it goes to show just how brilliant you are at writing. I have started doing the beauty routines though and find I've learned a lot. Well done once again a excellent and informative blog. Xxxx
