Now in life I adore a bit of spontaneity, but sometimes a gal just really needs a routine to ensure she’s got her life in check before heading on out into the world – and I thought I’d share with you, mine.
Sooooo let’s
say it’s your average Wednesday morn, when the clock strikes 6:20am my room is
filled with the musical delight that is the Jurassic Park theme tune; I’ve had
this alarm tone for over a year and I’m STILL not annoyed by it, it’s just so
graceful and relaxing to wake up to, although I am often disappointed when a
herd of brachiosaurus aren’t gallivanting outside my window when I get up.
Anyways, I’ll
have a cuddle with my other half before I swing my legs outta bed and go splash
some water onto my face – this is my super easy trick for waking up my face
ready for the day.
Now I’ve set
my alarm 10 minutes early so I can pull on my yoga pants, a top and hop
downstairs to roll out my mat and do a quick yoga session to stretch out my
muscles and just to basically give myself some headspace before I properly
start my day.
Now I’m all stretched
out I’m gonna have a super quick body shower and moisturise using my new
favourite product, the Clarins Body Cream with Shea Butter. While that’s
sinking in I’ll use my Origins GinZing Refreshing Scrub Cleanser, spray on some
toner and apply my facial moisturiser and eye creams.
Now I’m all
dried and moisturised, it’s time to tackle my hair – luckily I pulled it into a
messy ponytail before bed and gave it a few spritz of dry shampoo, so even
though today is my no-wash day, my hair still feels super clean and is extra voluminous!
Oh dry shampoo, is there anything you can’t do?
I’ll brush my
hair out upside down and then just pull it into a cute high ponytail, securing
some volume with some bobby pins. Now on to make-up!
For a work
day, I like to keep it simple and light using a tinted moisturiser, concealer,
powder, blush and bronzer – then I’ll give my lashes some volume with mascara
and fill in my brows so I have the ability to form an expression throughout the
day.
Now that my
face and hair are done it’s time for breakfast, and THANK GOODNESS because I am
famished. So I’ll head on downstairs and make myself a peppermint tea to-go in
my travel cup, while the kettles boiling I normally take this opportunity to do
some squats and lunges (hey, you gotta get them in somewhere!)
On a week day
I’ll keep breakfast really simple and have something like a bowl of bran flakes
with skimmed milk and a banana or 2 wheetabix with honey and whatever fruit we
have in the fridge, washed down with a glass of ice cold water (this is
normally my second glass of water of the day as I drink one whilst doing my
face too.) I always make sure I have time to sit down and eat my breakfast so I
can digest it properly, so I’ll sit at the table with my Kindle and read a
chapter of my book whilst chowing down; I think this is really important step
to make time for as even something as simple as reading just a little bit of
your current book, will make you feel as though you’ve achieved something more
than just getting up and heading out to work.
When I’ve
finished my breakfast I’ll head back up to find something to wear, if I’ve been
good I will have chosen it the night before so I can just wriggle into it,
brush my teeth and get ready to head out!
After making
sure I’ve got everything I need for the day in my bag, I’ll head to the fridge,
grab my sandwich I made last night (normally cheese and spinach on rye – YUM) a
healthy snack and my peppermint tea before seizing my keys and greeting the
(hopefully) nice weather outside.
So that’s
pretty much me every weekday, it may sound super simple and maybe even a little
bit boring but I absolutely adore my mornings and try to make the most of them
whether it’s before work or otherwise. I think taking time out in your morning
to do little extras like a morning yoga stretch and reading a little bit of
your book, puts you in a good headspace for the rest of the day, and allows you
to arrive at work already feeling like you’ve achieved something for yourself
that morning.
I hope you’ve
found this interesting and maybe it’ll inspire you to do a little more with
your mornings too!
See you next
time! xx
