You know those already-great Sunday’s you can often have, which
are just made better by an unexpected surprise? Well, this was me last weekend.
I was having a lovely time spending Sunday at my parent’s house;
catching up with my fam on the previous week, watching a Sunday movie whilst a
mouth-watering beef stew bubbled away in the oven. It was then my mum
exclaimed; “Oh! I forgot I have something to give you!” And she dashed upstairs
only to come down holding two rectangular white boxes with the glorious red
“Clarins” logo embossed onto the packaging.
“I treated us both to a bit of Clarins! Would you like to give
these a try?”
Sigh, would I? You bet your bottom dollar I would, you generous
thing you! As I am on a strict
“don’t-buy-any-new-products-until-you’ve-used-the-ones-you-have” spending
limit, I have been itching to get my paws onto some new skincare to try. Don’t
get me wrong, new make-up is wonderful; but treating your skin to a new
cleanser or exfoliator just knocks any new-bronzer feels out of the park for
me.
But enough dilly-dallying, let’s get into these products!
The first product of the two I tried was the Clarins GentleRefiner Exfoliating Cream with Microbeads, and let me tell you – it was a dream
for my tired face!
The point of an exfoliator, is to give your skin a real deep
cleanse, giving the top layer of your skin (which are actually holding on to
dead cells filled with keratin) a good seeing to, and to encourage fresh skin
cells to develop, leaving your face with a more rejuvenated appearance.
The
Clarins Exfoliating Cream was just the product for the job as you could really
feel the microbeads getting to work as you scrub it onto your morning face.
It’s great for waking you up, smells fresh and luxurious (as most Clarins
products do!) and doesn’t leave your face feeling tight or begging for a drink
like I’ve experienced with other exfoliators.
I’d say this product would be welcomed by all skin types, but
especially if you’re in danger of a breakout or are experiencing any painful
pimples, this does a great job of giving your skin that “squeaky clean”
feeling, without being too abrasive.
I would definitely recommend using this product only once or twice
a week as the microbeads really do their job well in giving your face a big
scrub – but overdoing it can irritate your skin if you’re forcing it to renew
skin cells when it’s not ready. A great morning product, I’ve really found
myself looking forward to using it when I’m giving my skin a weekend
pamper!
My second product to try was the Clarins Super Hydrant Moisture-Rich Body Lotion. Now, I
had already been a fan of Clarins body moisturisers; I was head over in heels
in love with the Eau Dynamisante Moisturising Body Lotion although sometimes it
could be a little too potent,
especially in the mornings when you aren’t fully awake – this product however is the perfect after-shower moisturiser whether
it’s in the morning, evening or you’re having a crazy 2pm shower on a Saturday
afternoon.
The consistency
is thick and soft but sinks effortlessly into your skin as you rub it in. It
also has a really summer-y, clean smell to it – nothing too overpowering, just
a nice light and natural aroma which’ll leave your skin feeling silky smooth and
hydrated all day!
A little goes
a long way too, I found I was able to moisturise my whole body with just two
applications about the size of a mini egg (why are mini eggs always so
relevent??) Each time; so I’m hoping this product will see me through April and
May at least, which when you work it out over cost per use, I can part with
£30.00 when butter soft skin is guaranteed each time!
So there you
have it, my thoughts on two of the most dreamy skincare products I’ve tested
out in a good while! I would thoroughly recommend Clarins to anyone; each
product is incredibly good quality and really fulfils its job whether you buy a
cleanser, moisturiser or serum! As it’s quite expensive, I would do your
research or even go in-store (you can normally found a counter at most
department stores) and chat with the advisors about what you’re looking for –
for the most they’re really knowledgeable and you can invest in an item that’ll
really make a difference in your skincare routine!
I hope this
has been helpful to you and you enjoy indulging in Clarins just like I have!
(Big thanks to my momma for this wonderful treat!)
See you next
time! xx
What a wonderful blog if I didn't already use Clarins you would have encouraged me to do so after reading this. Have to say that you were and always will be very very welcome. An excellent piece of writing as usual. Xxxx
