So, I was originally going to post a blog on "The Perfect Spring Weekend", which was going to be filled with sunshine, picnics and froyo; but of course in true UK style, this week's sun has gone AWOL and so that joy may have to be postponed for a week or two!
Luckily I had another blog in mind that I wanted to share, and that is my 5 minute make-up routine.
Now, we all have those morning's where we have to get up for work, we hear our alarm chime it's deadly tune (fortunately I have no such problems having the Jurassic Park theme song as my alarm tone) and we choose an extra 10 minutes of blissful sleep over looking human for the 9 hour work day ahead.
But what's that? Oh you have to leave in 20 minutes? Excellent
So here is my quick 5 minute, quick step routine to make you look a little more fresh-faced than Dawn of the Dead.
0:51 Wash face and moisturise (I'm all for an evening and morning cleanse, tone and moisturise - but there's no time for such luxuries). Instead, wash your face with lukewarm water, put some of your favourite toner (mine's Bioderma) onto a cotton pad and give your face a quick scrub - follow this up by giving your face a nourishing drink of moisturiser.
1:36 Grab your concealer and dot it on any dark circles or blemishes and blend with your fingers or a stippling brush. I tend to use my Bobbi Brown corrector to mask my dark circles and then use Rimmels "Wake Me Up" concealer in key areas I want to brighten or cover up. Be sure to be generous with it, you're skipping foundation today (do you like my use of turquoise clip?)
2:05 Set your concealer and banish any shine with some pressed powder, no time for precision - pat it on with a powder brush lightly but quickly.
2:55 Grab any blush with a light pink/dusty rose colouring, I've opted for Nars's "Desire". Apply this to the apples of your cheeks (you can find these when you smile creepily, similar to what I'm doing) - avoid applying too liberally, it'll make you looks like a dutch doll for all of Wednesday...
3:26 Curl your lashes and apply a light coating of mascara,
we want the "no-effort" look here
4:05 Lastly fill in your brows and comb them out using a clean spoolie. This is where you can take advantage of the remaining 55 seconds, your brows completely frame your face so take your time and try not to leave them looking like distant cousins (disclaimer; you'll have to excuse my current brows, I'm halfway through growing them before Summer so I can get them threaded)
5:00 You're done! A 5 minute "no make-up, make up" look which will leave your feeling a little less like a monster for the day
Hope this has been of some help and allows you to take advantage of a little extra sleep in the morning's. Check back for my next blog which will be 5 minute chocolate chip cookies!
Loving the 5 minute makeover and love the Nars's Derire. Your sooooo good at this. xxxx
