How to: Glowing Skin

As we slowly transition from our woolly coats and lose those extra Christmas pounds we just couldn't shift (hey, some of us are still working through our festive treats) we can finally see the beacon of flowery hope in our sights as Spring finally decides to make an appearance in the UK.

Now, for me, Spring is one of my favourite times of year; not only do you replenish your loss of selection boxes with a cupboard full of delicious Easter eggs; but it's the season where a Mac or a light jacket is all you need, afternoon walks aren't threatened with injury and embarrassment after slipping on black ice (three times). But we trade in our matte finish foundations and embrace glowing, healthy-looking skin perfectly complimented by the sensational (if not slightly elusive) sun.

Now, whether you have dry, oily or combination skin - sometimes the mention of the word "dewy" is enough to make you grimace. I mean, "beach babe skin" seems to come so easily to Victoria Secret models , how are we meant to achieve the effortless look without having Lisa Eldridge to hold our hand through it?

After going through a treatment of Roaccutane, I have actually now become knowledgeable on both oily skin types and what works, and also dry/combination to sensitive. So, check out below for my diagnostic for each skin type to create glowy, fresh looking skin you won't have to go on a 5K run to achieve.

Dry/Combination - The Prep
Now, the first step to perfecting glowy skin is preparation, and the best time to prep your skin is right before bed so then when your sleeping, your skin cells have some extra help while they rejuvenate through the night. So, what I'm recommending for those with dry or sensitive skin, would be to remove your day face then cleanse, tone and finish up with the Nivea's Rich Regenerating Night Cream

Be sure to really massage it into your face, and any sections your find particular dry on your face, top them up with a small dab of Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream.
*Top tip - exfoliate your lips with a dry toothbrush before bed and finish up with another dab of 8 hour cream - Hello soft lips!

Now you're set up, ready for waking to refreshed and nourished skin!

Now, your last step to a fresh-faced look, is your make-up routine. First, prep with moisturiser and let it sink in for 10 mins before applying your base. Rather than a heavy foundation which will mask you're newly revived skin - cover any discolouration or imperfections with concealer. Then for further coverage, add a small amount of tinted moisturiser or combine a small amount of your usual foundation with your daily moisturiser. Keep the rest of your look to a minimum but ensuring full, groomed brows, a few flicks of mascara and a touch of 8 hour cream to your cheekbones, brow bone and cupids bow.

The extra moisturising elements in your make-up routine will prevent your skin from drying out and Elizabeth Arden has got you covered for glowing features throughout the day!
